So how would I find out how many FOLDING knives are sold in this country every year, and furthermore, if available, what the market share of each manufacturer is?? Seems like those stats should be readily available.

The only statistics I have been able to find about knife sales are from the American Knife and Tool Institute in this report: http://www.akti.org/file_download/12 And even that is a few years out of date. I’m sure each individual company has the numbers on their yearly sales, but they are probably kept internal.
